The conflict between the United States and Iran intensified once again after two American soldiers were killed in a missile and drone attack in Jordan, allegedly carried out by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The incident has triggered a fresh wave of U.S. military strikes targeting Iranian positions, further escalating tensions across the Middle East.
According to a statement released by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the two service members died while stationed at a military facility in Jordan. Washington described the attack as a direct act of aggression and announced immediate retaliatory operations aimed at weakening Iran's military capabilities and preventing further threats to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth expressed condolences over the deaths of the soldiers, stating that their sacrifice would strengthen America's resolve to protect its forces and allies. He emphasized that the United States would continue taking decisive action against any group responsible for targeting American personnel.
Iranian media reported that U.S. strikes hit areas near the southern port city of Sirik, as well as locations close to Hajiabad and Qeshm Island. While infrastructure damage was reported, there were no immediate confirmed reports of casualties.
Amid the exchange of attacks, Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a strong warning to Washington, accusing the United States of violating previous agreements. He declared that Iran and its regional allies would respond firmly to what he called continued American aggression and claimed that commitments signed by U.S. President Donald Trump held no credibility.
