Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited film Ramayana has made a strong start at the Indian box office. Released in theatres on November 5, the film collected an estimated ₹64.85 crore net in India on its first day, according to box-office tracker Sacnilk. Its India gross collection stood at ₹77.50 crore.
The Hindi version contributed the largest share, earning ₹47.50 crore net. The Kannada version collected ₹7.25 crore, followed by Telugu at ₹6 crore. Tamil contributed ₹2.60 crore, while the Malayalam version earned ₹1.50 crore. These figures show that Hindi accounted for most of the film’s opening-day earnings.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, it has been released in five Indian languages: Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
For viewers planning a cinema visit, two details are important. The film has received a U certificate, meaning it is suitable for public viewing without age restrictions. However, its runtime is around three hours and 15 minutes, so audiences should plan accordingly.
The first-day collection is a trade estimate, not a final figure announced by the producers. Net and gross earnings are different and should not be confused. The makers have confirmed that the second part is scheduled for Diwali 2028.
Audience reactions from Kolkata cinemas can add a local perspective, but any review should be based on viewers who have actually watched the film.
