In the final, held in Dubai on Sunday, September 13, 2026, Harmanpreet Kaur-led India defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs to win the Asia Cup. This was India’s eighth Asia Cup title, extending their record in the tournament.
India scored 183 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma played brilliantly and made a record 129-run partnership. Shafali Verma scored an impressive 68 runs off 39 balls, reaching her half-century in just 24 balls. Smriti Mandhana also scored a fine 59 runs, completing her half-century in 35 balls.
India’s bowlers also performed exceptionally well. Shree Charani took four wickets, while Deepti Sharma took three wickets, helping India secure a comfortable victory.
The victory is a result of the team’s hard work, dedication, and excellent performance. It has also inspired many young girls across the country to take up cricket and follow their dreams.
After the match, the Indian players did not come onto the field for the trophy presentation and did not accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairperson from Pakistan.
