A unique Durga Puja theme in Kolkata will showcase the political journey of Suvendu Adhikari, tracing his rise from Nandigram to Nabanna. The puja, organised by the Hindu Mahasabha, will be held near Ruby More and is titled “Nandigram to Nabanna: Bubai’s Victory March.”
The theme aims to highlight Adhikari’s personal and political struggles, achievements, and rise to prominence. According to Hindu Mahasabha state president Chandrachur Goswami, the pandal will feature photographs, banners, and a documentary depicting Adhikari’s journey from his early days in Nandigram to his political success.
The organisers have also announced plans to give visitors an opportunity to send messages and slogans to Adhikari through the Hindu Mahasabha. They stated that these messages would subsequently be delivered to him.
The initiative has reportedly received greetings from both the Prime Minister’s Office and the President’s Secretariat. Goswami and other organisers recently travelled to Delhi, where they submitted invitations requesting President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the puja as guests of honour.
The organisers said the theme was inspired by what they described as a significant political development in West Bengal. Invitations are also being extended to prominent institutions, elected representatives, ministers, and Adhikari’s parents.
The unusual theme has generated interest ahead of Durga Puja 2026, as the organisers prepare to combine religious celebrations with a detailed portrayal of a political leader’s life and career.
