Indian travellers to Saudi Arabia face continued flight disruptions amid security concerns in the region. IndiGo has cancelled flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until October 31, 2026. The decision affects Indian workers, families visiting relatives and Umrah pilgrims who may need to change their travel plans.
Akasa Air has extended the suspension of flights to and from Jeddah until November 10 and Riyadh until November 30. Air India and Air India Express have also suspended services to Jeddah until October 31, while flights to Riyadh and Dammam remain suspended until November 7. Passengers should check the latest airline advisories before travelling to the airport.
Where can stranded Umrah pilgrims seek help?
The Consulate General of India in Jeddah has activated round-the-clock control rooms in Jeddah and Makkah to assist affected Indian nationals. Pilgrims facing problems with accommodation or other services can contact Saudi Arabia’s Pilgrim Care Centre by calling 1966. They should also stay in touch with their airline, travel agent or Umrah operator.
Affected passengers should contact their airline or booking agent directly to ask about refunds, rebooking and alternative travel arrangements. Availability and conditions may differ by airline and ticket.
Fresh bomb scare at Kolkata airport
Meanwhile, a bomb threat was discovered written in lipstick on the washroom mirror of an IndiGo flight arriving from Phuket to Kolkata on October 24. The aircraft was moved to an isolation area and passengers were evacuated while security personnel searched the plane and baggage.
Officials said no suspicious object was found. Police are investigating the incident and examining available evidence to identify the person responsible. Travellers are advised to follow official updates rather than share unverified claims on social media.
