A Maggi seller at Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh has caught the internet’s attention after a video claimed that he makes sales worth around ₹14,000–₹15,000 even during the off-season. The reel, posted by content creator Harsh Chauhan on Instagram on November 1, has reportedly crossed 5 million views, according to figures reported on November 2.
The seller’s estimated daily sales include around 60–70 plates of Maggi priced at ₹100 each, bringing in ₹6,000–₹7,000. He also reportedly sells nearly 200 cups of tea at ₹40 each, adding another ₹8,000. Together, the two items account for estimated daily sales of ₹14,000–₹15,000.
However, the figure represents sales, not actual profit. The seller would still have to meet expenses for ingredients, supplies, transportation to the high-altitude location and other business costs. The seasonal nature of tourism is another important factor, as extreme weather can limit business activity for several months.
The video has sparked debate online. While some users have joked about the seller’s impressive daily turnover and compared it with regular salaries, others have pointed out the challenges of working in such harsh conditions and the limited business season.
The viral claim is based on the seller’s account and should be treated as an estimate, not verified financial data. The reel’s current view count may also change. The discussion highlights the difference between daily sales and take-home earnings, as well as the effort required to run a small business in a remote mountain destination.
