Opposition Demands Shah Apology As Parliament Disrupted Over Student Protest Crackdown

India's Parliament was thrown into turmoil as opposition parties demanded an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the alleged police crackdown on student protesters. The uproar forced both Houses to adjourn until 2 PM, while the ruling NDA countered with protests over exam paper leak allegations in Punjab. The political confrontation has intensified the national debate over examination reforms, police action against demonstrators, and accountability.

India's Parliament witnessed another day of disruption on Tuesday as opposition parties intensified protests over the alleged police crackdown on student demonstrators demanding stronger action against examination paper leaks. Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned until 2:00 PM following continuous sloganeering and demonstrations by opposition lawmakers.

The protests come in the wake of nationwide outrage over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. The controversy had already led to the resignation of the Union Education Minister, while student-led demonstrations in the capital have remained a major political issue.

Opposition leaders accused security personnel of using excessive force against peaceful protesters and demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah publicly apologise for the police action. They argued that the government must take responsibility for the handling of the demonstrations and ensure accountability for any alleged misconduct by law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) staged a counter-protest inside the Parliament complex, highlighting allegations of examination paper leaks in Punjab. NDA MPs called on Punjab's leadership and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal to respond to those allegations, accusing the opposition of selective outrage.

The parliamentary standoff unfolded as the government prepared to introduce amendments aimed at strengthening laws against examination paper leaks and related malpractices. However, repeated protests prevented normal legislative proceedings during the morning session.

The student demonstrations and the government's response continue to dominate the national political debate, with both the ruling coalition and opposition attempting to shape the public narrative. The issue is expected to remain a flashpoint in Parliament as discussions on examination reforms and protest-related policing continue.
