New Delhi: March 13, 2025 will remain very special in Indian history as Netaji’s Indian National Army veteran Lieutenant R Madhavan Pillai’s 100th birthday was observed by the tri-services in the national capital. As part of the celebrations, Lieut. Pillai paid floral tribute first at the National War Memorial and then paid homage at the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose near the India Gate at Kartavya Path, escorted by the Indian Army personnel. Moreover, for the first time in Independent India’s history the tri services of India i.e Army, Navy and Air force personnel gave Guard of Honour to Netaji.
The Views Express talked to Shubham Sharma who is an INA History Expert and played instrumental role in making this grand occasion happen. Shubham told The Views Express, “The best day of my life, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose officially gets Guard of Honour by the tri services for the first time since our independence in the history today, Jai Hind”. Madhavan Pillai had joined the Indian National Army during the Second World War to fight against the British to liberate India under the leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
Importantly, Lieutenant R Madhavan Pillai was felicitated by the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi on Parakram Divas i.e on Netaji’s Birth Anniversary on January 23 this year in Cuttack, Odisha.
