Amit Shah Begins Bengal Visit With Packed Security And Development Agenda

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in West Bengal on Friday night for a three-day visit featuring a series of administrative, security, and development-related engagements across the state. He landed at Bagdogra Airport aboard a special flight and was received by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, along with Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh and North Bengal Development Minister Nisith Pramanik.

Following his arrival, Shah proceeded to the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters in Kadamtala, Siliguri, where he is scheduled to stay overnight. His visit comes shortly after the state government implemented the Anti-Goonda Act and introduced the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), making discussions on law and order particularly significant.

On Saturday, Shah will participate in the BSF’s ‘Prahari Sammelan’, where he is expected to address personnel and review border security matters. Later in the day, he will chair a high-level meeting at Uttarkanya focused on the implementation of the new criminal laws and the overall law-and-order situation in West Bengal. A separate administrative meeting on birth and death registration procedures is also scheduled.

After completing his North Bengal engagements, Shah will travel to Kolkata on Saturday night. On Sunday, he is expected to hold another key review meeting on the state's security and administrative preparedness. He will also visit the National Library before attending an event at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre.

During the programme, the Union Home Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone for a new dairy processing plant, highlighting the Centre’s focus on infrastructure and industrial development. Shah’s visit is being closely watched for its administrative significance and potential impact on governance and development initiatives in West Bengal.
