Pakistan Army Chief Holds Crucial Tehran Talks Amid Iran-Israel Tensions

Amid escalating tensions linked to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir held high-level talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran late Friday, according to Iranian state media. The meeting is being viewed as part of Islamabad’s growing diplomatic effort to prevent a wider regional war and encourage renewed negotiations between Iran and the United States.

Reports stated that discussions between the two leaders continued late into the night and focused on diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing military escalation and restoring regional stability. Pakistan has increasingly positioned itself as a mediator since the conflict intensified earlier this year following joint US-Israeli military actions against Iran.

Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Tehran on Friday and was welcomed by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. During the visit, Pakistani officials reportedly discussed ongoing negotiations, security concerns, and possible pathways toward peace in West Asia. Iranian media also confirmed that Qatar and several regional powers remain involved in parallel diplomatic consultations.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged that “some progress” had been made in talks involving Iran, though he cautioned that significant challenges remain before any agreement can be finalized. Analysts believe Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement could play an important role in reducing tensions as fears of broader instability continue to grow across the Middle East.
