A fire broke out in the trauma care ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital early Monday, killing at least 10 patients, officials confirmed. The blaze started around 3 a.m., and five others are in critical condition.

According to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, seven patients died inside the ICU, while three more passed away while being moved to other wards. The fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit. Hospital staff and firefighters rescued several patients and shifted them to safer areas.
