Ending a half-century drought in large-scale energy infrastructure, the United States has announced the construction of a massive new oil refinery. With an estimated investment of ₹27.5 lakh crore ($330 billion), this mega-project is set to be developed at the Port of Brownsville, Texas.

In a historic statement, U.S. President Donald Trump highlighted the critical role of Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, extending his personal gratitude to the Indian billionaire for his strategic partnership.

While announcing the project at the Brownsville Port, President Trump emphasized its strategic importance. "This is the first major refinery to be built in America in 50 years. It will not only ensure a steady energy supply but will also significantly strengthen America’s National Security," Trump stated. He further added that reducing dependence on foreign energy sources and making America self-reliant is a top priority for his administration.

President Trump specifically thanked Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Industries for their technical expertise and collaboration. Given that Reliance’s Jamnagar refinery is one of the world’s largest and most advanced facilities, their experience is expected to be a cornerstone for the Texas project. "This partnership and cooperation will show a new path to the economies of both nations," Trump remarked.

At approximately ₹27.5 lakh crore, this is one of the largest industrial investments in American history. The construction and operation of the refinery are expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs. The facility aims to process millions of barrels of crude oil daily. The refinery will utilize state-of-the-art technology to ensure environmentally conscious production with lower carbon emissions.

Due to strict environmental regulations and high capital costs, no major new refineries have been built in the U.S. for decades. Experts believe that in the current geopolitical climate, this refinery will be a "game-changer" for the United States in managing global oil price volatility and ensuring domestic energy stability.
