The wait is finally over for Indian cricket fans! After a three-month hiatus from international duties, the two pillars of Indian cricket—Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli—are set to don the "Blue Jersey" once again.

According to the latest roadmap released by the BCCI, the veteran duo will return to the national squad immediately following the conclusion of the IPL for a high-profile white-ball series against Afghanistan in June.
After spending quality time with his family in London following the birth of his second child, Virat Kohli has officially touched down in India. While he stepped away from the recent Test series against England, he is now shifting gears to find his rhythm. Kohli has already begun his preparations for the upcoming IPL season, which will serve as his primary warm-up before returning to international duty.

On the other hand, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been busy in a global role. Currently serving as an ICC Ambassador for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Rohit has been spotted at various international venues promoting the sport. However, despite his off-field commitments, the "Hitman" is slated to lead the side once the domestic season concludes.

The BCCI has confirmed that Afghanistan will tour India in June for a multi-format series. While the senior players might be rested for the lone Test, both Kohli and Rohit are confirmed starters for the ODI leg of the tour.

The return of these two legends is seen as a strategic move by the BCCI. With an eye on the 2027 ODI World Cup, the board wants the core veterans to remain active in the 50-over format. This home series against a rising Afghanistan side will be the perfect litmus test before the Men in Blue head to England for their summer tour.
