The month of February—a symbol of Bengali emotion, pride, and sacrifice—has officially begun. Starting yesterday, February 1st, the nation entered the "Month of Language," dedicated to the martyrs who laid down their lives on February 21, 1952, to protect the dignity of their mother tongue. The cornerstone of this month-long observance, the Amar Ekushey Book Fair, has once again turned the capital into a vibrant hub of literature and culture.

The formal inauguration of the book fair took place yesterday afternoon at the Bangla Academy premises and Suhrawardy Udyan. Under the theme "Read Books, Build the Country," this year’s fair boasts a more organized layout and expanded pavilion spaces. From the very first hour, the grounds were teeming with book enthusiasts, students, and families, all eager to soak in the scent of fresh ink and paper.

The fervor isn't limited to Dhaka alone. A wave of cultural excitement has swept across the entire country:
Every evening, the Bangla Academy is hosting seminars, poetry recitations, and musical performances.Local book fairs and discussion meetings have also kicked off at the district and upazila levels. Clad in the traditional black and white attire—symbolizing both mourning and resilience—people of all ages are gathering to pay homage to the language heroes.
